Comfort Food made by Mom

I thought this was blog worthy, not because food is blog worthy per say, but the feelings and memories that come from this particular food are.

My mom, when my sisters and I were growing up, would make homemade caramel, cinnamon, peanut butter and maple rolls about every 2 months. My dad absolutely loved them, and the house was usually filled with family stopping by for a sweet treat, as they were a legend in our family. The smell of coming home from school and having those wonderful smells permeate your senses as you walk through the door. It was like heaven.

Fast forward about 15 years, and that is about the last time my mom has made these rolls. Life went fast, kids got married, my dad passed away, grand babies and jobs. It wasn't a big priority to make these rolls, until a few weeks ago. My mom surprised us with these sweet treats, my kids were so excited. My husband was so excited and for a few brief moments I was back sitting in my moms and dads kitchen enjoying warm rolls out of the oven, remembering how simple life was then.

Thanks Mom, for the wonderful treat, the memories of sharing them with my kids, and for bringing me back to my childhood. Where life was simple, and it could all be solved while eating a yummy roll made by mom :)
